Treclin Gel is a prescription-only medicine used to treat mild to moderate acne vulgaris. It combines clindamycin 1%, an antibiotic that reduces acne-causing bacteria, with tretinoin 0.025%, a retinoid that helps unclog pores and prevent new spots from forming.

Using two active ingredients in one treatment helps reduce inflammation while improving skin turnover for clearer skin over time.

Following your online assessment, one of our prescribers will determine whether Treclin Gel is suitable for you.

What is Treclin used for?

Treclin Gel is used to treat:

  • Mild to moderate acne vulgaris
  • Inflammatory acne
  • Blackheads (open comedones)
  • Whiteheads (closed comedones)
  • Papules and pustules

How does Treclin work?

Treclin contains two active ingredients:

  • Clindamycin is an antibiotic that reduces the growth of Cutibacterium acnes (formerly Propionibacterium acnes) and helps reduce inflammation.
  • Tretinoin is a retinoid that increases skin cell turnover, helping to unclog pores and prevent new blackheads and spots from developing.

Together, they treat existing acne while helping to prevent future breakouts.

Who can use Treclin?

Treclin may be suitable for adults and adolescents with mild to moderate acne where a combination topical treatment is clinically appropriate.

Who should not use Treclin?

Treclin may not be suitable if you:

  • Are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
  • Are allergic to clindamycin, lincomycin, tretinoin or any of the ingredients.
  • Have Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
  • Have a history of antibiotic-associated colitis.
  • Have eczema, rosacea or severely inflamed skin in the treatment area.

Speak to your prescriber if you are breastfeeding or taking other acne treatments.
