- Night Nurse Liquid 160ml
Night Nurse Liquid 160ml is a night-time cold and flu medicine designed to relieve multiple symptoms that can make resting difficult when you are feeling unwell. Its three active ingredients help relieve aches and pains, fever, tickly coughs and a runny nose associated with colds, chills and influenza.
Cold and flu symptoms can become particularly uncomfortable at bedtime. A persistent tickly cough, runny nose, headache or body aches may make it harder to settle down for the night. Night Nurse Liquid combines paracetamol, promethazine hydrochloride and dextromethorphan hydrobromide in one oral solution to provide targeted night-time symptom relief.
Paracetamol helps relieve pain and reduce fever, dextromethorphan helps suppress a dry, tickly cough, and promethazine is a sedating antihistamine that helps relieve a runny nose and sneezing. Because promethazine can cause drowsiness, this medicine is specifically intended for use at bedtime.
The 160ml bottle provides eight 20ml adult doses. Night Nurse Liquid is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 16 years and over, subject to the warnings and restrictions in the Patient Information Leaflet.
How Does Night Nurse Liquid Work?
Night Nurse Liquid contains three active ingredients that address different cold and flu symptoms.
Paracetamol – Relieves Aches, Pains and Fever
Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic, meaning it helps relieve pain and reduce a raised temperature.
It can help relieve symptoms such as headaches, sore throat pain, body aches and fever associated with colds and flu.
Each 20ml dose contains 1,000mg of paracetamol.
Promethazine Hydrochloride – Relieves Runny Nose Symptoms
Promethazine hydrochloride is a sedating antihistamine with anticholinergic properties.
It helps relieve symptoms such as a runny nose and sneezing. It can also cause drowsiness, which is why Night Nurse Liquid is intended for bedtime use rather than daytime symptom relief.
Each 20ml dose contains 20mg of promethazine hydrochloride.
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide – Suppresses Tickly Coughs
Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is a cough suppressant, also known as an antitussive.
It acts on the cough reflex to help reduce dry, irritating and tickly coughing associated with colds and flu.
Each 20ml dose contains 15mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide.
Together, these ingredients provide multi-symptom night-time cold and flu relief in a single liquid formulation.
