- Foundayo 0.8 mg: What to Expect in Your...

Starting Foundayo can be exciting, but it can also raise questions.
Will 0.8 mg suppress my appetite? Will I lose weight straight away? And why can't I start on a higher dose?
Foundayo 0.8 mg is the standard licensed starting dose for orforglipron treatment.
Understanding what this first month is designed to achieve can make the early stages of treatment much easier to navigate and alleviate any potential anxiety.
Why does Foundayo start at 0.8 mg?
Foundayo is introduced gradually to allow your body time to adjust.
GLP-1 medicines can cause gastrointestinal side effects, particularly during treatment initiation and dose escalation.
These may include:
- nausea
- diarrhoea
- constipation
- vomiting
- indigestion
- abdominal discomfort
Starting at 0.8 mg and gradually increasing helps reduce the likelihood of troublesome gastrointestinal effects.
How long do you take Foundayo 0.8 mg?
For a complete overview of what happens after the starting dose, see our guide to Foundayo doses from 0.8 mg to 17.2 mg.
After this, the licensed schedule moves to Foundayo 2.5 mg once daily.
You should not increase early simply because you feel well or because appetite suppression feels mild.
Should I expect significant weight loss on 0.8 mg?
Not necessarily.
The introductory dose is part of a gradual titration pathway.
Individual responses vary, and the first month should not be viewed as a test of whether Foundayo will ultimately work for you.
Some people may notice:
- less hunger
- earlier fullness
- fewer cravings
while others notice relatively little initially.
Both can occur during early treatment.
How do I take Foundayo?
Foundayo is taken once daily.
It can be taken with or without food, and Lilly states that there are no water restrictions associated with dosing.
Try to develop a routine that makes it easy to remember your tablet every day.
What side effects might happen during the first month?
Digestive symptoms are the most common.
Your body is adjusting to the medicine, so symptoms such as nausea or changes in bowel habit may be more noticeable during initiation.
If symptoms are mild, they may improve with time.
Contact your healthcare professional if symptoms are severe, persistent or make it difficult to maintain adequate food or fluid intake.
Should I increase early if 0.8 mg isn't suppressing my appetite?
No.
The licensed dosing schedule requires at least 30 days at 0.8 mg before moving to 2.5 mg.
Increasing too quickly may increase adverse effects without giving your body sufficient time to adapt.
How Pharmulous can help
At Pharmulous, we understand that the first month of a new treatment can generate lots of questions.
Our approach is patient centred rather than purely dose centred.
If you are worried that appetite hasn't changed enough, struggling with side effects or simply unsure whether what you're experiencing is normal, our clinical team can review this with you.
We aim to provide:
Clear guidance - so you understand why the starting dose matters.
Clinical safety - we do not recommend speeding through titration unnecessarily.
Flexible support - if side effects or other circumstances arise, treatment can be reviewed.
Long-term thinking - successful weight management is about finding a sustainable treatment plan rather than chasing rapid results during the first few weeks.
The first month is just the beginning.
