Foundayo 5.5 mg: Can You Stay on This Dose?

One of the most common questions patients ask about weight-management treatment is:

“If my current dose is working, do I really have to increase?”

With Foundayo, this becomes particularly relevant once patients reach 5.5 mg.

The licensed dosing schedule allows further increases from 5.5 mg to 9 mg, 14.5 mg and 17.2 mg, but those increases are based on treatment response and tolerability.

So can you stay on Foundayo 5.5 mg?

For some patients, potentially yes.

Where does 5.5 mg fit into Foundayo treatment?

The standard pathway starts:

0.8 mg → 2.5 mg → 5.5 mg

with at least 30 days at each step.

Once 5.5 mg has been reached, the dose may subsequently increase to 9 mg, 14.5 mg or 17.2 mg after at least 30 days at the current dose, based on response and tolerability.

This makes 5.5 mg an important point at which treatment can increasingly be considered in the context of the individual patient's response.

Why might someone stay on 5.5 mg?

A clinician may look at several factors.

For example:

  • Is appetite appropriately controlled?
  • Is weight moving in the intended direction?
  • Are cravings and food noise manageable?
  • Is treatment well tolerated?
  • Has the patient reached maintenance?
  • Would additional weight loss actually be desirable?

If treatment is already achieving the clinical goal, there may not always be a reason to increase simply because another strength exists.

What about maintenance?

This is particularly relevant for patients who have already lost substantial weight. During weight maintenance, the aim may be weight stability rather than additional weight loss.

During maintenance, the aim may be weight stability rather than additional weight loss.

A patient who is maintaining well on a lower dose may have very different treatment needs from someone who is still actively trying to lose significant weight.

Stable weight does not automatically mean the medicine has stopped working.

During maintenance, stability may actually represent success.

When might an increase be considered?

A higher dose might be discussed if there is a sustained change such as:

  • hunger becoming difficult to manage
  • food noise returning
  • weight consistently increasing
  • insufficient response during active weight loss

But the overall picture needs to be assessed rather than responding to a single weigh-in or a few days of increased appetite.

Is 5.5 mg officially a “maintenance dose”?

The product information does not define one single maintenance strength for every patient.

Instead, higher-dose escalation is based on response and tolerability.

So rather than asking whether 5.5 mg is the maintenance dose, it is more useful to ask whether it is an effective and appropriate dose for you.

How Pharmulous can help

This is where Pharmulous's maintenance-friendly approach becomes particularly important.

We do not believe that every patient needs to reach the highest dose available.

Instead, our clinicians look at:

  • where you started
  • how much weight you have lost
  • where your weight is now
  • appetite and food noise
  • side effects
  • previous GLP-1 treatment
  • whether you are actively losing or maintaining
  • your individual goals

Our approach is flexible but clinically led.

If 5.5 mg is working appropriately, we can consider that within your overall treatment plan.

If your needs change, the plan can be reviewed.

The aim is not maximum medication.

It is the lowest effective, well-tolerated treatment that safely supports your goals.
